About Me | INVESTED MOM

Hi, I’m Inge! I went from being a struggling single mom, newly separated (and eventually divorced), to a multimillionaire within a few short years.

I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, and moved to Canada in 2010 looking for a better life. I always had an entrepreneurial spirit and started my first side-hustle when I was 9 years old – selling fudge at school during lunch breaks. I eventually went on to sell all kinds of homemade crafts at the school fair and craft markets on weekends. I knew I wanted to be in business one day, so I started my first business straight out of university and used that as a launchpad for my career.

It wasn’t until much later that I realized that saving isn’t enough to get ahead. I was always very interested in real estate, but saving up for a down payment was grueling and slow, and the demands of life kept getting in the way.

I needed to find a way to build my wealth, and my capital, so that I wasn’t tied to a job and I had choices in life. I wanted to work because I loved it, not because I had to. I wanted to be creative and feel fulfilled.

I started investing in myself and upgrading my skills while learning how to invest. I quickly became debt free and compounded my money at a staggering rate. Then 3 things happened.

I realized that I had made more money in 1 year than my parents did saving up an entire lifetime for their retirement. This should have made me happy, but I felt incredibly sad. A lifetime of working, grinding, and sacrificing for what could be made in 1 year. I didn’t want this to happen to anyone else I cared about.

The second thing? I have been following all the “gurus” in the investing world, like Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Monish Pabrai, David Einhorn, Carl Icahn, and ALL of them were men. It was so hard to find relatable women whose books I could read, or 13F filings I could track. There are either no women money managers, or they are not getting the same media and attention as men. This really pissed me off.

The third thing I realized as I started talking about what I’d been up to, I realized that other women, especially moms, really wanted to be able to manage their own finances, and had a special interest in making sure their kids were set up for their future, but had no idea how to make this happen.

It wasn’t until I became a coach that I realized how significant an impact I can make in people's lives sharing my journey, learnings and my processes.

So here I am, advocating for everyone who is invested and wants to build their wealth, especially the mommas!
